Argument for Life Data statistics in Depreciation
A serious current problem related to public administration has been accounting differences between public entities and the corporate world, depreciation was simply not used in the public government accounting until recently. Today depreciation is used, but is poorly applied as it is done without corresponding understanding and application of asset life. In other words, the depreciation used by government today has little to no grounding in the actual life of the asset, general guidelines only are used from professional associations, if at all.
Paradoxically, providers of capital equipment are extremely well informed of the lives of their products and have quantitative data, Weibull analysis of life studies, for all their capital equipment, and this can and should be made part of government equipment contracts.
It is further troubling that the introduction of depreciation in public accounting is only recent, and past bad habits of allowing poor and no maintenance policies to push equipment to failure have been employed, knowing the money will be provided thru taxes. The introduction of depreciation, combined with bad past practices, and little grounding of depreciation in quantifiable reality creates a terrible problem for government entities in need of a solution, proper maintenance and budgeting for replacement of assets as they wear out. This presentation recommends employment of quantified life in calculating depreciation, and discusses ways of avoiding budget overruns.

Is Artificial Intelligence in Hiring a Public Liability?
In the following paper, the problem related to public administration has to do with hiring.
With the increase in use of artificial intelligence in hiring, the US government has made it clear from 2019 to present these artificial intelligence screening systems are discriminatory across the board in all categories and in violation of current US law and statutes prohibiting discrimination.
The paper looks at several federal government agencies attempts to address the problem, from NIST’s ‘E’ order of 2019 to the EEOC’s technical order of 2022, three years later which echoes exactly the same concerns identified in 2019. Amazon’s scrapping of a problematical AI based hiring solution is also discussed. A survey method and freedom of information act test is proposed as a means of resolving this problem.
Statistical Method for Life Assessment - Weibull analysis briefing
This briefing is included to cover the reading of Weibull analysis of life data charts for the manager. It is an overview from five years of working with the method using presentations and materials from other experts in the field and is shown as a guide for the practical user.
